Playing

Lars was having fun playing with some foam blocks Roux got from Nonna and Poppa.  Mikie was reading while Lars and Roux played.  Christmas brings out the kid in us.

Lars gave the scarf to mom and I thought she looks really pretty here.  Love you mom!!
Sunday before Christmas Grandma Wakefield passed.  She had been fighting a long battle of MG so it is good to know she is in a better place and not suffering any longer.  Friday was her funeral in Logan so we all drove out Thursday avoiding getting up early in the morning.  By doing that we were right in the middle of a HUGE storm.  Fortunately I was able to ride with Josh and Heidi and he is a very good driver in the snow.  It still ended up taking about 6 1/2 hrs but at least we got there safe.  The best part was mom and dad made it all the way to Wellsville without getting stuck or going off the road (cause dad's a great snow driver, I just can't watch) but as soon as they pulled into James' driveway they got high centered on the snow drifts.  Ha ha.  Heidi and I couldn't stop laughing.

It was a really good service.  I'm don't do funerals but this wasn't as bad as I anticipated because everyone was so positive and it is good to know Grandma is with other loved ones and happy.  I just need to remember life is short and to enjoy and take in every moment!  Love you all!

Christmas

The pictures got posted backwards but here are some from Christmas day.  This is Roux's new favorite movie.  We've watched it about 20 times already.  I liked it at first but now it's not one of my first picks.
I only got Roux 3 gifts.  This was one of them, a little bag chair.  He loves to play on it and sit on it.
This was opening the bag chair.
This was just funny.

Christmas Eve we always open pajamas to wear the next morning.  (I thought we were the only ones who did this but after talking to a few people I found out there are a lot of families who do this.  Bummer)  His are flannel button down with fire trucks.  They are so cute and soft.  He thought they were pretty cool too.

Heber Creeper

Christmas Eve day Heidi and family came over for some sledding.  Originally it was supposed to be behind a horse (sledding that is) but we settled for a four wheeler which goes a little faster.  Roux had lots of fun but it was so cold out especially since the sun started going down.  Luckily no one got hurt from falling into frozen cow pies.  But Deegan was on the sled and Poppa was driving when Deegan fell off.  He jumped up and yelled at Poppa but he just kept going so Deegan put his head down and started walking back.  Was so funny.  Poppa said he saw a cow that looked like it had gotten out so wasn't paying attention.  What an old farmer.  Ha ha.
We went on the Heber Creeper train that goes from Heber through the Provo Canyon.  It was fun.  The kids were so good considering it took about 3 hrs to complete.  It was a little chilly but not too bad.  There was hot chocolate and treats and Santa came.  They have a Polar Express ride that goes at night which would have been really fun but it was sold out.  Guess they have some specialty rides throughout the year that would be fun to go on.
When Santa came through the door Roux got this excited look on his face and I taught him to say Ho Ho Ho (not directed to anyone, just in general).  But as soon as Santa got close he was quiet and just stared.  He sure liked the candy cane though.

Snow

This was the first snow worth shoveling the sidewalk.  Of course I didn't shovel, that's Mikie with Roux.  I'm not s big fan of snow because I don't go out when it's cold.  I prefer warm sandy beaches and sun.  It's storming today and a lot more snow is on its way.  I'll be glad to be back in the warmth.

This picture is a little late but was from Thanksgiving at Heidi's.

Roux and I.  He's so cute!

Kung Fu Panda

So Roux cracks me up.  His favorite movie for the last 2 weeks has been Kung Fu Panda.  He wakes up in the morning and wants to watch it.  The crazy thing is that he really watches it.  When a fight scene comes on he'll watch then jump around and say "whoa".  He laughs in a few places every time and makes little sound effects.  Then at the end when the credits and song come on he dances with the music.

The second favorite movie is The Polar Express which he also watches with intent.  I really don't understand his fascination with this one but his eyes were glued to Nonna's iPod watching it with out sound.  When she would move her hand his head would go with it.  Funny boy.

It snowed about a week ago and Roux wanted to see what it was after watching it through the window.  So the next day I took him out and we played for a few minutes until he was running and fell down and got his hands and face in it.  After I laughed and saw he didn't like it I picked him up and brought him inside and all he wanted to do was snuggle.  He really doesn't like to touch it.  I haven't been very good with the pictures recently but I'll take some to post.

Roux has also found a few gifts under the tree and opened a couple of them and a big box that came UPS.  I have a feeling he's really going to like Christmas day.

Mom

I was just thinking the other day about Christmas and growing up and wanted to share a little something about them.  My favorite memories of growing up and being poor was when Christmas time would come and Mom would always make us something.  I loved what she would make more than all of the gifts I got because I knew that every minute she spent on it she wasn't thinking about her college class or grading papers for school or laundry or dishes, etc, she was thinking about me and how much she loved me.  The best gift I got was a doll she made with red hair and a black and red dress that was so pretty.  I have no idea what happened to it but I knew how much she loved me by how long she spent on the doll and wrapping the yarn around the knitting needles and hand painting the face.  Thank you Mom for all the love you give to me!

News

I'm a little behind but thanksgiving was great.  Had fun at the Fossi's turkey bowl and playing soccer after our delicious meal at Heidi's.  It was really cool to see Colton and Natalie.  Haven't seen them in a really really long time.  They are super funny.

Have done a little bit of shopping for Christmas but not much because I'm not that into huge, over the top on gifts.  On the Saturday after Thanksgiving I did Andrea's hair for her wedding which was short, sweet and to the point.  I decided that weddings are really boring.  We all need to teach our kids how to kick back and have a good time so parties are more lively and fun. Then we (Heidi, Deegan, Roux and I) went to see the temple square lights and it was packed!  Was pretty but the kids lasted about 8 minutes before they were bored.

The news I am wanting to share is I'm moving Tempe the end of the month and am super excited to be back where it is warm again.  None of this scraping the windows and warming up the car.  Yuck.  I already have a job and living and sitter all situated.  Its time to move forward and see what lays ahead.  There's nothing for me out in Roosevelt and I've not had luck in the Salt Lake area so its back to where I am well known and can go on.

Well, I would write more to update but Roux is throwing this HUGE tantrum.  Been crying for about 5 min now rolling on the floor.  Good times.
